Morgan Olson donates New Emergency Vehicle to Pittsylvania County

26

Pittsylvania County - VA issued the following announcement on July 21

When Morgan Olson came to Ringgold, Virginia, just over a year ago, they promised to provide quality jobs and positively impact the community. To date, Morgan Olson has made generous donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Danville, area veterans’ groups, and the Danville animal shelter. Today Pittsylvania County Public Safety Director Chris Slemp received keys to another generous donation from Morgan Olson – a brand new emergency vehicle to support Pittsylvania County Public Safety and the many Volunteer fire departments in the county.

“Morgan Olson believes in giving to the communities in which we do business”, shares Mike Ownbey, Morgan Olson’s President and CEO. “Morgan Olson step vans are essential delivery vehicles that provide food, water, and medical supplies to everyone across North America. This emergency service vehicle is just one more example of the versatility of our step vans built by our outstanding team members. Shares Mike. “I’d like to add that if you’re looking for work at a good company that pays well and has benefits, we’re hiring.

Morgan Olson Senior Director, Ernie McDonald, says he was excited to help after learning that the previous air pumping truck was decommissioned in 2019. “According to the Fire Marshal, about 400 volunteer firefighters help protect Pittsylvania County, and many of them arrive at a scene in their personally owned vehicle, without an air tank. The air pumping truck is a critical tool in the safety of our volunteer firefighters, and I’m extremely proud we’re able to donate such an important piece of firefighting equipment”.

Officially formed in 2019, the Pittsylvania County Department of Public Safety is responsible for all emergency management and response in Pittsylvania County. The Department includes emergency management, animal control, the 911 Dispatch Center, and the coordination of all the volunteer fire and rescue agencies, as well as the career EMS and Fire staff positioned at strategic locations around the county.

“Thanks to this generous donation from Morgan Olson, Pittsylvania County Public Safety is now more equipped to respond to fires throughout our community,” said Public Safety Director Chris Slemp. “Having a mobile unit that can fill the air tanks will allow us to better support our volunteer fire departments during large fires and could even be an asset to the City of Danville Fire Department and other neighboring localities in a large-scale emergency.”

“Each member of the Board of Supervisors is extremely pleased that Morgan Olson is providing high quality employment opportunities for so many of our residents, and today we are appreciative of the generous donation of an air truck to Pittsylvania County Public Safety,” said Joe Davis, Supervisor for the Dan River District where Morgan Olson’s plant is located. “This vehicle will serve as a great asset to Pittsylvania County Public Safety, our volunteer fire and rescue agencies, and, by extension, our entire community.”

One year ago, Morgan Olson opened their new 925,000 sq. ft. facility in Ringgold, Virginia. The facility features the latest in state-of-the-art robotic tools and employ over 600 highly motivated team members who work to Morgan Olson’s motto that, “We’re only as good as the next step van we build.” If you are interested in joining this winning team, go to www.morganolson.com/careers
