Students Stand for Children and Families at the 2022 March For Life

18

Patrick Henry Community College  issued the following announcement on Jan. 28

On Friday, January 21, one-third of the Patrick Henry College student body climbed into busses and traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 49th annual March for Life. Braving the 19 °F wind and snow, the students waved signs and marched toward the United States Supreme Court to promote the sanctity of the lives of the unborn and protest the 1974 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion across the country. The March for Life and similar organizations advocate for protections for children and support for mothers and families.

Attending the March for Life has become an important yearly tradition for the college, and many professors cancel classes or excuse absences so the largest number of people can participate. Students on the American Politics and Policy (APP) major board organize transportation and lunch every year for those who participate in the all-day event. By providing opportunities to practically demonstrate their beliefs, the APP board members hope that students are encouraged to stand for critical causes in everyday life.
