Averett University Athletics issued the following announcement on Feb. 6
Averett University women's basketball fell short 68-64 against Methodist University Sunday afternoon inside the Grant Center.
Averett (4-17, 4-10 USA South) saw senior Rana Davis-Robinson notch her first career double-double on Senior Day. She had 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars battled hard against the Monarchs. Sophomore Shunte Bethea led the team in scoring with 13 and added five rebounds.
Methodist (11-10, 9-6 USA South) was led by Emmenia Lynch who had a game-high 22 points.
At the end of the first Averett had secured a three-point lead before seeing the Monarchs take control and head into the halftime break up by two. Methodist outscored Averett by just a point in the final two quarters of play resulting in the four-point victory.
Averett is back in action when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. to face William Peace University Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
