The Averett University men's lacrosse program lost its first USA South match of the year 20-5 against Southern Virginia University on Wednesday afternoon on Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
Averett (3-4, 0-1 USA South) scored the first goal of the game when senior Tyler Moodie found the back of the net with an assist from fellow senior Marques Fleming.
Southern Virginia (3-2, 1-0 USA South) rattled off six goals in a row after falling down 1-0. The Knights led at the half 13-2.
Senior Parker Corbett led the Cougars with two goals while senior Mason Foy also found the back of the net once.
The Cougars are back in action Saturday when they host Greensboro College at 12 p.m.
