Dennis Matheis has officially assumed the role as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sentara Healthcare, effective September 1, 2022.
Dennis served nearly five years as the President of Sentara Health Plans and Executive Vice President at Sentara Healthcare during a time of extensive growth. Matheis succeeds Howard Kern, who retires after serving Sentara Healthcare for more than 40 years and has served as President and CEO since 2016.
Matheis is a proven leader with 27 years of experience in senior leadership roles within the healthcare industry, including healthcare financing and delivery.
