Averett University men's soccer took a 3-2 win on the road against non-conference opponent Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer N.C. Wednesday night.
In the 75th minute of play, the game was tied up 2-2 until sophomore Orion Mills found the back of the net, assisted by Oliver Kousholt, which gave Averett the 3-2 advantage.
In the 40th minute, Pfeiffer's Ricky Hernandez-Sexton struck first in the contest, which gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
In the 44th minute, Averett sophomore Jonthomas Buckley answered back with a goal of his own to tie the match up 1-1.In the 46th minute, Falcon Jardim Bernardo found the back of the net, which gave Pfeiffer (0-3-2) a 2-1 lead.
In the 57th minute, junior Agustin Jaraba booted the ball into the goal to tie the Falcons once more 2-2.
In the 75th minute, (2-2-2) Averett took the lead when sophomore Orion Mills found the back of the net for his first goal on the season, assisted by Oliver Kousholt.
The Cougars had 18 shots on goal, which kept pressure on Pfeiffer the entire match.
Averett is back on the road on Saturday when they travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. to face N.C. Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
