The Series: Averett is 25-22 all-time against Shenandoah dating back to the 1989-90 season. The Cougars won last year's meeting 78-64 in Danville. Prior to that, the two hadn't met since Shenandoah and Averett were conference foes in the USA South Athletic Conference in 2012 before the Hornets moved to the ODAC. The Cougars have won the last two meetings overall and three of the last four. The only Averett loss in the series during that stretch was in double overtime.

Averett dominated William Peace University 81-49 in non-conference road action on Tuesday night for the Cougars' fourth win in a row. ... Averett's defense has been its signature. In five Division III games this season, Averett hasn't allowed more than 64 points and has kept every team under 41 percent shooting from the field.
Shenandoah at a Glance: Shenandoah is coming off a 59-49 home win over Regent University on Nov. 20, which ended a two-game skid for the Hornets. Averett and Shenandoah have one common opponent so far this season.
