WIN $200 DURING SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

WIN $200 DURING SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAYSaturday

November 26th is Small Business Saturday and participating small businesses are providing you with a chance to win $200. When you shop at participating businesses and make a purchase, you can enter to win. Shop at one or all of them and enter each time you make a purchase through November 27th.

Why shop small?

“Small businesses keep our country and our community moving. During the worst of the 2020 pandemic, our small businesses continued to offer products and services in new and creative ways. Their strong desire to provide what customers needed drove them to discover new ways to provide outstanding customer service and they continue to do that every day,” says Tamyra Vest, Executive Director of Destination Downtown South Boston.

There are 31.7 million small businesses in the U.S. as of 2020 (Source: Small Business Administration). That’s a lot of small business owners and employees keeping our country moving and functioning. From retailers, service providers, bakeries, and restaurants, to grocery stores and farmers, and everything in between, small businesses are vital to our lives and our economy.

Unfortunately, only about 82% survive their first year and a dismal 50% survive to the five-year anniversary mark according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Supporting small business is vital to our economy and our community.

South Boston and Halifax have a broad variety of small business owners who depend on local customers, and work hard to bring in additional revenue from visitors to the community when they can. And those business owners contribute significantly to our local economy by providing employment opportunities, paying taxes and business license fees, and providing products and services everyone needs. They also give to local charities, support youth organizations, buy utilities and services, and put money back into the economy in many ways. For every $100 spent at a local small business, $43 goes directly back into the community.

Small businesses typically donate 250% more than larger businesses to local non-profits and community causes according to research from Charitable Giving. As a matter of fact, 75% of small business owners donate an average of 6% of profits to charitable organizations annually.

“We love supporting the community. And we value every person who walks through our doors. Our goal is to provide products our customers want and offer a memorable shopping experience,” explains Amanda Day Rose, owner of Wister’ Florals & Gifts.

Get out and support locally owned small businesses in South Boston and Halifax on Small Business Saturday. And enter to win the $200 prize each time you shop at participating businesses listed below through November 27th. It’s a win-win for everyone in the community.
