Halifax County Planning Commission Chair Mattie Cowan receives endorsement of RED PAC in run for board of supervisors

Mattie Cowan, the current Chair of the Halifax County Planning Commission, has received the endorsement of RED PAC in her bid for the District 5 seat on the county's Board of Supervisors. RED PAC, a political action committee, endorsed Cowan based on her fiscal responsibility, commitment to conserving private property rights, and advocacy for rural economic development.

According to the Halifax County, Va., website, elections for the Board of Supervisors will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Cowan is running as an Independent to represent District 5, and the term for the district is four years.

In a release announcing the group's endorsement of Cowan on the platform X, and other candidates throughout Virginia, Kevin Gardner, Executive Director of RED PAC said "these candidates embody core conservative principles. Their unwavering commitment to transparency, fiscal prudence, and local economic advancement will surely benefit their constituencies."

Cowan's campaign has also received the endorsement of the Halifax County Business and Professional Council. On her Facebook page, Cowan outlined her priorities as a supervisor, which include advocating for PreK-12 education and workforce training, supporting new and existing businesses and jobs, identifying additional revenue streams to minimize tax increases, and promoting community cleanliness and safety.

Cowan's endorsement by RED PAC and the Halifax County Business and Professional Council, along with her position as the Chair of the Halifax County Planning Commission, highlight her qualifications and support within the community. Her commitment to fiscal responsibility and rural economic development align with the values of these endorsing organizations.

It remains to be seen how Cowan's endorsements will impact her campaign for the District 5 seat on the Halifax County Board of Supervisors.
