148 9th-grade students enrolled in Patrick County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 148 9th-grade students enrolled in Patrick County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 19.1% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Patrick County High School was the only school that welcomed 9th-grade students in the county.

Within Patrick County schools, the largest number of students were found in 1st-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Patrick County ranked 87th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 86th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
