348 students were enrolled for 9th-grade in Halifax County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 348 9th-grade students enrolled in Halifax County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 4.9% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Halifax County High School was the only school that welcomed 9th-grade students in the county.

Within Halifax County schools, the largest number of students were found in 2nd-grade, while 7th-grade had the least students.

Statewide, Halifax County ranked 53rd in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 53rd the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
