Men's lacrosse comeback falls short at Ferrum

Averett University Athletics issued the following announcement on March 4

The Averett University men's lacrosse program fell short 8-6 against Ferrum College on Friday night.

Averett (2-1) struggled to get things rolling as Ferrum (2-2) ended the first quarter of play with a 4-0 advantage.

The Cougars got on the board in the second quarter when senior Mike Michaud found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Liam Taylor. Michaud also added two assists while Taylor added two goals. Averett headed into halftime trailing 6-1.

The second half was a different story for the Cougars as they outscored the Panthers 5-2. Averett tallied 13 more shots on goal then Ferrrum with 43 to the Panthers 30. The Cougars only converted one man up opportunity out of seven while the Panthers went one of three.

Senior Mason Foy and freshman Jay Etheridge both added one goal while sophomore Connor Taff tallied a goal and two assists.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow when they battle Wilkes University at 4 p.m.
