There were 1,908 Black students enrolled in Pittsylvania County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 1.3% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Pittsylvania County Public Schools District welcomed 7,861 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 24.3% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the school.

Pittsylvania County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Pittsylvania County and has a main office in Chatham.

Among the 18 schools in Pittsylvania County Public Schools District, Dan River High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
